ez-link card

Introduced for use on the MRT, LRT and public buses since January 2002, the ez-link card is now increasingly being used in all sectors of retail from leisure to dining to shopping. It is truly Singapore's first contactless Multi-purpose Stored Value (MPSV) card.

Travelling on buses and trains is now faster and smoother, no fuss and hassle of paying with coins or verifying the correct fare to pay. Just tap and go!

Being contactless, the card convenient to use and transaction time is kept to a minimum of approximately 0.2 sec.

This makes the ez-link card the logical choice for use in applications that require fast, secure and accurate transactions.

Technology of the ez-link card

The ez-link card is a thin, compact card conforming to ISO/IEC 7816 card dimensions (similar to credit card). The card surface is made of PET material that is environmental friendly.

A tamper-proof IC chip and antenna are built into the card. Both the card and the reader communicate by using radio wave via wireless communication. The sensing distance between the card and the reader is up to 10cm. The card itself contains no battery but operates from electromagnetic energy received from the reader.

Both the card and the reader ensure secure, fast and reliable transmission of data between them. The strong encryption techniques prevent eavesdropping and fraudulent use. This helps to ensure the integrity of transaction information captured.
